How to pack a fun and easy Halloween themed lunch!

halloween lunch packing ideas from whatlisacooks.com. how to pack a fun halloween school lunch for kids.

It really doesn’t take much to make a fun themed lunch for your kids. Today I’m showing you just a few quick tips to add a little Halloween fun to the lunchbox.

I’ve got another post here that you should definitely read all about how to make sandwiches more fun, and a lot of these halloween lunches use those same tips. But here we’re getting just a bit more specific. I don’t do spooky stuff for halloween, my kids were always freaked out by skeletons and spider things when they were little, so we keep it simple and lighthearted and fun.

Tips for Halloween lunch packing:

You can see all of these ideas in the photos below. I’ve got loads of links in here for you for lots of little fun products to make themed lunch packing easy, but if you’d like to go straight to the list you can find it here on my Amazon Storefront.

  • Cut a sandwich with a pumpkin shaped cookie cutter. You can leave it just as the pumpkin shape, or you can go a step further and cut little eyes and mouth, or use an orange bento pick to add more detail. You can add a leaf bento pick too. There are loads of options for fun halloween shaped cutters.

  • Add in some orange foods - like oranges, cheddar cheese, cheese crackers. So easy!

  • I love using a little leaf pick in the top of a mandarin orange to make it look like a little pumpkin.

  • You can use a sharpie to draw a face on a mandarin with the peel on.

  • Cut slices of cheese in little pumpkin shapes. I have a set similar to this with a variety of fall themed mini cutters and the pumpkin one is the perfect size for these little details.

  • Cut quesadillas with that same big pumpkin cutter.

  • Use small letter cutters to press “BOO” into your sandwich or quesadilla. You can make actual cuts, or just use the cutters to make a little impression, or you can dip the cutter in jam to basically use as a stamp on your sandwich.

  • Orange silicone cups and a green napkin background give a fun pumpkin patch sort of feel.

  • A few years ago Babybel put out special cheeses with Halloween wrappers. They were a super easy and fun way to add a little Halloween to some of these lunches and I hope they do this again.

  • There are also lots of cookies out now with halloween themes, like these fun halloween Oreos.

  • My drawing skills are the best but you can draw pumpkins or spooky pics or BOO on a little napkin.

  • Get some inexpensive little plastic spiders or similar themed items in the party favor section, or use cupcake toppers with a Halloween theme.

  • There are so many fun bento picks available, and you know that bento picks are one of my most favorite ways to quickly and easily dress up a lunch to make it more fun. Look at these fun little ghost and goblin bento picks I found! Or here is a set with ghosts, spooky cats, and pumpkins.

Remember you can find all these items here in this list on my Amazon Store.

All of these ideas take really seconds or minutes to do and kids love them!

Here are just a few pics of some Halloween lunches I have done in the past, I hope you find my ideas fun and inspiring!
