School Lunch Day 55: Leftover Mac & Cheese

School Lunch from WhatLisaCooks.com

The Lunch Idea:

If I have leftovers from the week I try to send leftovers for lunch on Friday. It helps me get the fridge cleaned out for the weekend, and makes for very easy lunch packing.  Last night I made a big pot of macaroni and cheese for the kids for dinner. They usually devour it, but we had been at a holiday party earlier and I think they all had too many snacks. So there was tons of mac & cheese leftover. Perfect for lunch!

It's been a full week, so I was glad to have an easy idea for lunch.

What's in the Lunch:

  • Warm macaroni and cheese
  • Sliced apples
  • Cheese
  • Graham crackers

Questions and Tips:

  • To send hot food for lunch I do two things: 1) heat the food to much hotter than I would serve it to my kids. And 2) pre-heat the thermos by filling it with boiling water while I am heating up the lunch.
  • The apples in this lunch were also leftover. They were sliced for a lunch earlier in the week and stored in a baggie in the fridge.  You can see that they are only a little brown.  Here is my post about apples
